Arsenal are confident of completing a loan move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos as a replacement for the departed Aaron Ramsey.
Arsenal will play the Spanish side in Washington DC on Tuesday and the two sides are believed to be edging closer to an agreement.
Ceballos is seen as one of the most exciting talents in Spanish football but has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Madrid starting lineup over the past two seasons.
The 22-year-old, who has made six senior appearances for the Spanish national team, joined Madrid from Real Betis for a fee of around £15 million.
Raul Sanllehi, Arsenal’s head of football, has flown back to London from their pre-season tour of the United States as the club looks to step up their activity in the transfer market.

They
remain hopeful of signing Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney and have all
but completed a move for Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba.
If a deal can be agreed with Madrid, Ceballos would fill the midfield gap left by Ramsey after the Welshman joined Juventus on a free transfer this summer.
He is a technically gifted midfielder who will provide a more creative option for Emery alongside the likes of Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi.
Ceballos still believes he can be successful in Madrid but is hopeful that a loan move will allow him to continue his development.
Speaking to Spanish radio earlier this summer, he said: “If I leave Real Madrid, I want to play in a team where I feel important. I want to show that I can compete at any team in Europe. I am a young player that wants to play and succeed. I don’t want another year without playing.”
